Vision

One of the greatest needs in the developing world is a means to help people escape the grip of poverty and develop their God given gifts and talents.  At Marketplace Ministries Worldwide we are passionate about the emerging business as mission movement and the way it is mobilizing a previously untapped resource of the church: that is, those in the Christian business community. In spite of a growing missionary presence, many of the world’s people have yet to hear the Gospel due to various factors.  At the same time there is no country that is not interested in its own economic betterment. Western businesses, including those that are Christian, and the capital they bring to developing and restricted access nations are rarely turned away.  Therefore, we believe that business offers a unique platform from which to the love and grace of Jesus with the world.

BUSINESS AS MISSION
While some may not connect business and mission, the power of the synergy should not be ignored.
“Business as Mission is a commercial business venture, intentionally devoted to being used as an instrument of God’s mission (missio Dei) to the world. BAM companies minister to all those who are directly in the business’s sphere of influence, such as, their workforce and their families, suppliers, vendors, customers and clients.”
(Business as Mission, C. Neal Johnson, pg. 28)

THE NEED
For the first time in human history, over half of the world’s population now lives in urban areas. 84% of these people are in lesser developed countries, debilitated by serious health, welfare, education, and other social or economic problems.

CAMBODIA
“The major economic challenge for Cambodia over the next decade will be fashioning an economic environment in which the private sector can create enough jobs to handle Cambodia’s demographic imbalance. More than 50% of the population is less than 21 years old. The population lacks education and productive skills, particularly in the poverty-ridden countryside, which suffers from an almost total lack of basic infrastructure.” (CIA World Factbook, Cambodia, 2010)

OUR MISSION
The Mission of Marketplace Ministries Worldwide is to help businesses sustain ministries that meet physical as well as spiritual needs and demonstrate God’s love for the world.
